UCC Equestrian Host the National Tetrathlon Championships

On the 18th and 19th of November 2015, the UCC Equestrian Club held the National Tetrathlon Championships. The competition was held in Co.Tipperary this year with the running located at Dundrum House hotel, the swimming and shooting located at the Cannon Hayes sports centre in Tipperary town and the riding took place in Ryan’s Equestrian Centre in Thurles. There was approximately 120 people competing in the competition and we also had an international team from the UK compete also.

We had a busy run up to the competition, including the hotel burning down, but they were brilliant in accommodating us in their guest houses. The running took place on the Saturday morning which had tough conditions with heavy rain but all the athletes handled it brilliantly. The shooting then took place in the Cannon Hayes sports centre in Tipperary town under the watchful eye of John Flood. The swimming took place directly after the shooting.

On the Saturday night we had our Gala ball and prizes were distributed for each of running, swimming and shooting. On the Sunday morning the riding took place in Ryan’s Equestrian Centre we are very thankful to all the horse owners who provided the horses for the showjumping phase. Following the showjumping we then had the prize giving where the top teams and individual prizes were distributed.

We at the UCC Equestrian Club would like to thank everyone for their participation in the competition and to all of those who heled out also.
